Safari Park & Consulate Appointment

We had a wonderful day at the Safari Park yesterday - it was a full day, and was really fun.  Several families from our travel group went.  We rode on a train through the safari park, where the animals literally came right up to the cars, it was just amazing.  Then we spent the rest of the day walking through the park.  Because it was Monday, the place was quite empty and we got to see everything we wanted to see, from endangered white tigers, to pandas.  They have a beautiful animal nursery as well, so we got to see lots of baby animals.  The whole park was clean and the animals looked well cared for, which is not what I've heard about most zoos in China.  We watched the white tiger show, and I was all nerves with only two trainers in the cage with 15 tigers.  (And really, the cage did not look tall enough to keep those tigers in... a travelmate reminded me that there were several "tasty morsels" between the tigers and us, since we were in the back row!)

KaiYu rode carnival rides with Baba, only to later tell us that dad spun him too fast in the teacup ride and gave him a headache!  He loved the bumper cars.  It was a really fun day, and I am so glad we got to do it.  I kept missing Abigail and Paul though, as I know they would have loved it.

This morning we had our appointment at the American Consulate for the last bit of paperwork for Kai's visa.  We will pick it all up tomorrow and get on the train to Hong Kong for a night on our way home.  We are in the home stretch, and while I am not looking forward to the flight and jetlag, I can't wait to be home.
